News from Islamabad
After the LHC imposed a ban on facebook.com till 31st May 2010, now it is the turn of youtube.com to get banned in Pakistan. Apparently, the reason for this ban is most probably the same one used for facebook as there is a huge assumption that the pictures of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) would be broad casted at youtube as well.
As a part of contingency, ISPs have taken this step most probably to stop such broadcasts in Pakistan because there is nothing to be heard from courts regarding this. So it is either the government or the ISPs. The question is are they allowed to take such a step?
Plus, this has given a new twist to this issue. I believe it is the government who is taking these steps, as these mediums were used to mobilize resources and opinions against them. So, now they have got a moral justification to ban all mediums.
This is getting fishy now!

ReplyDeleteblocking facebook and youtube in my opinion is the just too good to be true! they are destroying our culture and our new generations! DOWN WITH THOSE WEBSITES AND POWER TO TEH MUSLIM NATION!!
But they also have to understand, that these same tools were also being used to spread Da'awah! Have you forgot the fame "The Arrivals" had got at youtube?
ReplyDeleteI am very happy with government such steps. I came to know that facebook lost is going to 40 Billion in just 2 days.
ReplyDeleteI do not believe so.. 40 Billion US dollars is the total international debt of Pakistan, that cannot be the earning of Facebook from Pakistan or from its muslim users. A very exaggerated figure!
ReplyDeletePeople still try to search open such sites which are blocked in their country so they never face any kind of loss . For example you can still open YouTube in just a single click here access youtube at school
